Three Easy Bread and Bun Recipes for Beginners
3 easy bread & buns recipes for beginners! Even if you have never baked bread before, I know you will be able to make these recipes!
Biscuit Buns:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 cup melted vegan butter
3/4 cup nondairy milk like soy or oat
1/2 tsp salt
optional: 1 tsp sugar
Preheat oven to 450 F. Mix together dry ingredients. Add melted butter and milk and mix until just combined. Form into 5-6 round shapes and place on a sheet pan spaced evenly apart. Optional: sprinkle flour or seeds on top. Bake10-12 minutes, until golden brown on the bottom and slightly firm to the touch on top. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing.
Artisan Buns & Loaf:
2 cups lukewarm water
2.5 tsp instant yeast 4 cups all-purpose flour
1-2 tsp salt (depending how much salt you prefer - I do about 1.5 tsp)
optional: 1 tsp sugar
Dissolve yeast in water. Add flour, salt and sugar. Stir to form a shaggy dough. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit at least 3 hours up to overnight.Â
Buns: Preheat oven to 425 F. Divide dough into 8 even balls. Place on sheet pan. Add a sprinkle of flour or seeds on top. Bake 20 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool sightly before slicing and serving.
Loaf: Preheat oven to 425 F. Place a dutch oven in the oven for 30 minutes. Roughly shape dough into round loaf shape. Remove from oven, add loaf and cover with lid. Bake 30 minutes, then remove lid and bake 10 more minutes until deep golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool before sl...
